I bought these in a size small for my average-sized 8 year old son (who wears an 8/medium in Gap, Old Navy etc). Check the size chart and note that it is quite likely you will have to size down from other mainstream brands. These are soccer pants with ankle zips, so while not a jogger they become considerably slimmer around the calf. They are much cooler looking than wide, flappy athletic pants.I thought they were very good quality in comparison to some PUMA pants I bought for him recently. The fabric is substantial and has held up against his rough and tumble lifestyle so far. They are fine for winter days as long as it is not too cold (say, under 40 degrees or so for a normal person; my kid is perpetually hot). They do not have a fuzzy/brushed lining.
